Amy Jacques Garvey Institute in Washington, DC was very proud to conduct and complete a thorough Urban Anthropology research project. The project centered on a obervatory study and survey of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue. Located deep in the Deanwood area of ward 7. Sometimes called the "forgotten part of Washington DC".

Our goal was to find information about the Bussinesses, Religious Institutions, People, Culture, and Community Organizations along Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave. Also we researched about Nannie Helen Burroughs herself: her Life and her Legacy. Nannie Helen Burroughs was a great Pan-African Feminist Progressive and Activist in Washington DC. The youth prepared a research paper on Nannie Helen Burroughs, detailing her relationship with the U.N.I.A, Marcus and Amy Jacques Garvey.
